A big low in the Tasman Sea flings a front over New Zealand today bringing some wet weather to most regions, rain may be heavy about the northeastern side of the North Island.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain about Northland through to Waikato this morning spreads into the Bay Of Plenty, there may be the odd heavy fall. Conditions ease back to showers for Northland, Auckland and Waikato this morning and there could be an isolated PM heavy shower. Winds from the north or northeast.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and showers, some sun may briefly break through at times in the afternoon. Easterly winds.
Highs: 19-21
Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower developing this morning, a period of rain may move through Gisborne late afternoon / evening then clearing. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21
Wellington
Cloudy areas and the odd shower, easterly winds.
High: 19
Marlborough & Nelson
Early rain then the odd shower, some sun may even break through briefly in the afternoon. Showers may be a little more persistent later in the evening about Marlborough, easterly winds.
High: 16-18
Canterbury
Areas of rain or drizzle develop early morning, rain looking a little more likely about South Canterbury rather than further north however it may occur anywhere. Easterly winds.
Highs: 14-16
West Coast
Cloudy with areas of rain, easing to light showers or drizzle at times, perhaps some dry spells now and then too. Easterly winds.
Highs: 17-21
Southland & Otago
Cloudy about coastal Otago with patchy drizzle then some evening rain. Some sun about Central Otago then cloud thickens from midday, late afternoon / evening showers. Southland sees a mix of sun and cloud. Winds from the east, breezy about coastal areas.
