Anticyclonic conditions bring mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, however there will be a northwesterly drift over the South Island and lower North Island during the day which brings some cloud especially in the west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny, some afternoon cloud for Northland. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas, chance of a light shower or two about Taranaki. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island
Sunny, light winds tend east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-25

Wellington
Cloudy areas, brisk northerly winds
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, mainly morning. Afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-24

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, morning high cloud then clearing. Light afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 19-22

West Coast
Sunny spells for most however Fiordland sees cloudy skies with some rain or showers. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Southland & Otago
A few morning showers or spots of rain then sunny areas increase in the afternoon. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-22
