An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather for New Zealand today, some cloud at times however especially this morning and for much of the day along the North Island’s East Coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny although expect some cloud at times Auckland southwards especially from afternoon, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening for southern parts of Auckland, Waikato and inland Bay Of Plenty then clearing later in the evening. Winds are light then afternoon sea breezes develop.
Highs: 20-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, some cloud may build again in the afternoon for inland areas bringing the low risk of an isolated shower otherwise staying dry. Southeasterly winds. Afternoon sea breezes develop for Taranaki.
Highs: 17-21

Eastern North Island
Cloudy for the Wairarapa, cloud spreading further northwards during the morning bringing the chance of a light shower or drizzle patch. Southerly winds swing around to the northeast during the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Morning cloud then mostly sunny from afternoon as southeasterly winds tend northeast.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon. Some cloud hanging about inland areas for the rest of the day, perhaps even the low risk of an isolated shower or two. Afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury
Morning cloud then mostly sunny, east to northeasterly winds freshen in the afternoon especially about the coast Banks Peninsula northwards.
Highs: 13-16

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light winds tending onshore in the afternoon, some cloud hanging about during the day Greymouth northwards may produce an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about inland hills and ranges.
Highs: 14-17

Southland & Otago
Sunny weather with light winds, tending onshore during the afternoon.
Highs: 13-18
