A westerly airflow lies over New Zealand today then a front with an associated southwest change pushes into the lower South Island this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers and occasional sunny spells. The Bay Of Plenty is mainly dry however there may be a shower or two push across from the west. Westerly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas with a few showers, more so from afternoon however a few could move through in the morning. Fresh west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud at times, breezy west to northwesterly winds. Warm temperatures.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington
Mostly sunny with some high cloud and gusty northwesterly winds, overnight spots of rain.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds gusty at times.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud. Northwesterly winds, gusty at times for inland areas.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Rain for South Westland, a few showers further north. Rain spreads northwards in the afternoon with heavy falls possible. Northwesterlies change southwest overnight.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
A few showers or spots of rain for Southland, mostly sunny elsewhere with some high cloud. Rain more widespread late afternoon or evening as northwesterly winds change southwest. Rain eases before midnight.
Highs: 11-13
