A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today with showers at times in the west, drier out east with some high cloud.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning low cloud or fog then mostly sunny about Northland, Auckland and the Bay Of Plenty; there may be an isolated shower or two with a higher chance of showers overnight. About the Waikato skies are a little cloudier (some fog this morning) with a greater risk of showers during the day, this risk increases overnight. Light northwesterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two during the day, showers especially more likely later in the evening / overnight for a time. There may even be a thunderstorm with a heavy downpour later in the evening / overnight about Taranaki. Northwesterly winds.

Eastern North Island
Sunny and warm, overnight high cloud thickens up and there may be a few spots of rain pass over. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19
Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower mainly later in the evening / overnight. Breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 14
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny, cloud thickens up in the evening then there may be a few overnight spots of rain. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17
Canterbury
Morning low cloud or fog breaks to Sunny areas and some high cloud with light north to northeasterly winds. Overnight some scattered rain pushes in from the west, especially inland.
Highs: 12-15
West Coast
Mostly cloudy with a few showers at times, later in the evening / overnight some rain develops. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-14
Southland & Otago
Some low cloud or fog possible this morning. Any early morning spots of rain clear then expect sunny areas and some high cloud, some scattered rain may spread from the west overnight for inland areas. Light northerly quarter winds.
