A high lies over the South Island today while a southeasterly airflow flows over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Areas of cloud, a few afternoon / evening showers for Auckland, Coromandel and Northland as southeasterly winds tend easterly and freshen. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty sees some morning sun then cloud increases in the afternoon, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, some cloud may hang about Taranaki during the day however. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-22

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with the odd light shower or drizzle patch, dry spells becoming more frequent from afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Sunny spells with southeasterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, breezy east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-19

Canterbury
Morning cloud (drizzle first thing inland) then afternoon sunny spells, east to northeasterly winds freshen in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Mainly sunny although there may be some coastal cloud at times, light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-21

Southland & Otago
Any early cloud clears then mostly sunny with light east to northeasterly winds, chance of a light frost to start the day for some inland areas. High cloud in the evening.
Highs: 15-19
