An anticyclone covers most of New Zealand today, unstable areas may still develop this afternoon over parts of the lower South Island and North Island however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening otherwise mainly dry. Light winds and afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 27-32

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny. Isolated showers late afternoon / evening inland, showers may become heavy with the risk of a thunderstorm then clearing later on. Southerly quarter winds.
Highs: 26-29

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud with the chance of some drizzle then breaking to mostly sunny weather in the afternoon. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening inland about the ranges, perhaps even a thunderstorm for the hills of Wairarapa. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 24-26

Wellington
Any morning cloud breaks away then mostly sunny with light southeasterly winds.
High: 25

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, about inland hills / ranges isolated showers develop during the afternoon. Showers may become heavy with a risk of thunderstorms then clearing later on. Easterly winds for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies in Nelson.
Highs: 24-26

Canterbury
Morning cloud (mainly Banks Peninsula northwards) breaks then mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud, east to northeast winds. Late afternoon / evening isolated showers develop inland about the ranges, some may become heavy with the risk of a thunderstorm.
Highs: 24-27

West Coast
Mostly sunny with some high cloud at times, cloud builds a little about inland hills / ranges bringing the chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening. Light winds.
Highs: 24-31

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, southwesterlies move into Southland early afternoon bringing cloud and the chance of a shower. The shower risk for Otago comes in late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 25-33
