A north to northwesterly airflow gradually develops today ahead of a front which moves over the upper North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A chance of early fog. A few showers in the Tasman may affect western areas this morning, otherwise mainly dry. Rain develops later in the evening / overnight sweeping down with a front moving southwards over the upper North Island. North to northwest winds.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Foggy areas but also a few showers in the west, especially western Taranaki first thing. Otherwise a mainly dry day elsewhere with cloud thickening from late afternoon / evening before some rain moves in overnight.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island
Any early cloud clears to sunny weather, light winds.
High: 13-14

Wellington
Mainly sunny with some evening cloud, northerlies develop in the morning.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny with light north to northwesterly winds, high cloud from evening.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury
Chance of a brief morning shower then mainly sunny from afternoon. Light northeasterly winds.
High: 11

West Coast
Some morning rain then clearing, remaining fairly cloudy however some sun may break through in the afternoon. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-12

Southland & Otago
Any early spots of rain clear then becoming mainly sunny with light northerly quarter winds.
Highs: 8-11
