An anticyclone brings mainly settled conditions today, a few showers pass over the upper North Island however and expect plenty of cloud for some regions gradually breaking to some sun in the afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning sun then areas of cloud develop in the afternoon about Northland and Auckland bringing the risk of a shower then clearing away in the evening. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty stays mainly sunny, cloud a tad more frequent in the afternoon. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with light east to southeasterly winds. Southeasterly winds become variable in the afternoon about northern Taranaki.
Highs: 18-20

Eastern North Island

Sunny spells, cloud increases in the afternoon bringing the risk of a shower as light southwesterly winds tend southeast.
Highs: 16-19

Wellington

Sunny spells with light southeasterly breezes.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Fairly cloudy in the morning then sunny spells break through from afternoon. Light winds tend north to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury

Cloudy this morning with a chance of drizzle then sunny spells break through this afternoon as light southerlies tend northeast.
High: 15

West Coast

Cloudy areas about North Westland, chance of a shower also. Sunnier skies further south. Light winds.
Highs: 16-17

Southland & Otago

Any early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, some cloud may hang about coastal Otago for much of the day with winds tending northeasterly. Light winds elsewhere.
Highs: 14-18
