A front moves over the South Island this morning and afternoon then later this evening it pushes onto the west of the North Island. Most South Island regions can expect some rain for a time with heavy falls in the west, the North Island sees some rain but perhaps not till later in the day.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, spits of rain from evening for most although perhaps not reaching Bay Of Plenty till overnight. Rain becoming more persistent later in the evening / overnight for most. Increasing northerly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy with rain developing later in the afternoon, possibly heavy in the evening then easing overnight. Increasing northerly winds, strong after midday in coastal areas.
Highs: 12-14
Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spells of rain move through later in the evening / overnight. Northwesterly winds.
Cloudy with areas of rain moving in late afternoon then clearing overnight. Northerly winds, strong from midday
High: 13
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy skies with breezy northerly winds, becoming gusty from afternoon. The odd shower about Nelson turns to rain in the afternoon, possibly heavy. Rain moves through late afternoon for Marlborough then clearing in the evening for all.
Thick high cloud with a few spots of rain, clearing in the afternoon then cloud breaking away, breezy north to northeasterly winds ease in the evening.
Rain with heavy falls at times, easing in the afternoon to showers then clearing in the evening. Gusty northeasterlies tend lighter northerly later in the day.

Southland & Otago
Cloudy with areas of rain, clearing in the afternoon for inland areas with some sun breaking through. Not easing till evening elsewhere. Easterly winds.
Highs: 10-12
