Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy with west to northwesterly winds, chance of a shower now and then otherwise dry.

Lower North Island

Areas of cloud with northwesterly breezes, chance of a shower or two mainly afternoon onwards. Along the east coast expect mostly sunny weather with some high cloud.

Upper South Island

Plenty of high cloud about Nelson and Marlborough with northwesterly winds, high cloud breaks away late afternoon or evening with winds easing. On the West Coast expect morning rain easing to showers as northerly winds change westerly. Morning high cloud for Canterbury with northwesterly winds, chance of a few brief early afternoon showers then sunny areas develop as winds tend southwest.

Lower South Island

Morning rain on the West Coast then clearing in the afternoon with sun developing, a few morning showers pass through Southland and Otago in the east then becoming mostly sunny by midday, southwesterly winds.
