A low to the northeast of New Zealand brings patchy rain or showers to the upper half of the North Island today, rain about Gisborne may be heavy. Further south the weather gets progressively better for the most part, northwesterlies build over the South Island.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with morning rain then easing to patchy showers, rain in the morning for Northland may be heavy then easing gradually from afternoon. Rain or showers mostly clearing overnight. South to southeasterly winds.
High: 14-15
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with southeasterly winds, occasional showers about northeastern parts of the Central North Island.
Highs: 12-15
Eastern North Island
Cloudy with southeasterly winds, showers for the Hawkes Bay and rain for Gisborne. Rain about Northern Hawkes Bay and Gisborne may be heavy at times then clearing overnight.
Morning cloud then sunny areas increase in the afternoon to have mainly clear skies by evening, southeasterly winds dying away in the evening.
High: 12-13
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas increasing from morning with southerly quarter winds, dying away by evening.
Sunny with light northeasterlies near the coast, northwesterly winds build inland from evening. Evening high cloud.
Mainly sunny with light winds, patchy showers spreading into South Westland in the evening then further north overnight.
Highs: 11-12
Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and thickening high cloud about Southland and inland Otago with breezy northwesterly winds, a few spots of rain possible at times from afternoon. Rain more likely overnight. Coastal Otago has a sunnier day with lighter winds, some high cloud from afternoon.
Highs: 10-12
