A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, mainly dry in the west with any morning showers for the North Island clearing. Eastern areas experience cloud and the odd shower during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning showers clear then expect afternoon sunny areas. Brisk SW winds easing by evening.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower possible mainly this morning, Taranaki becoming mostly sunny in the morning however with any early showers clearing. Breezy southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower about, strong southywesterly winds with gales possible in exposed coastal areas.
High: 15

Wellington

Occasional showers with strong to gale southerly winds, easing evening.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some cloud at times, the odd shower about the coast for Southern Marlborough. Southerly winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, especially along the coast Banks Peninsula northwards. Showers ease overnight, cool southwesterly winds.
High: 12

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
High: 15

Southland & Otago

Cloudy with the odd shower now and then, clearing inland by midday. Breezy cool southwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-12
