It’s looking very calm and dry for many parts of New Zealand, as a big high pressure system stretches over much of the country.

Here are the regional forecasts for Saturday:

Entire North Island

A mix of sun and cloud, some afternoon cloud build ups but mainly dry across the entire island. Light winds.
Highs: 23 to 27
Tonight’s Lows: 11 to 16

Marlborough & Nelson
A mostly sunny day with just the risk of late shower in the Nelson ranges. Light nor’westers
Highs: 25 to 27
Tonight’s Lows: 10 – 12

West Coast

A band of rain slowly moves north across the day, clearing from the south during the afternoon. Light winds
Highs: 20 – 22 (low 20s)
Tonight’s Low: 12 

Southland, Otago, Canterbury

Showers – lighter in the deep south first thing, but a little more widespread. By afternoon the showers will reach Canterbury and be more isolated and potentially heavier. The day is drier overall than wetter.
Highs: 17 – 23
Tonight’s Low: 9 to 12
