Saturday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Quiet and dry weather will be in place across the country today.

But, even with this ridge of high pressure building in, I can’t rule out the possibility for a shower or two in some parts of the east.

South winds could get just a bit of a kick to the east this afternoon.  If that happens, the resulting south-southeast flow could be just enough to pop a few showers about Gisborne.  Kaikoura could also see a few showers from that change in the wind.

Anything that falls will be pretty light and pretty quick.  So, outdoor plans shouldn’t take too much of a hit.

For the rest of the country, expect a mix of clouds and sunshine with some breezy southerlies.

Highs today will be from the mid teens to around 20.
