Christchurch surprised many people with a mainly dry night for the big game between the All Blacks and the Wallabies last night and temperatures at the start of the game were surprisingly balmy at about 12 degrees.
Fortunately the game wasn’t being played today in the city as cold temperatures with rain and wind are likely to affect any outdoor activity.
Many pundits thought conditions were going to be similar to a Lions match from 5 years earlier when driving sleet and snow showers made conditions miserable at AMI stadium however the southerly change waited until after the game last night.
Snow is still forecast down to 3-500 metres across the Canterbury Peninsula and also inland areas which will be good news for skiers and more is forecast for next weekend.
