A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today while a large anticyclone sits just to the north of the North Island.

North Island
Risk of a shower this morning for the Bay Of Plenty then clearing. Risk of a shower at times today for the lower western North Island (Taranaki through to Kapiti), the highest risk being about Kapiti.

South Island
Showers for the West Coast, especially for South Westland. North Westland may see more frequent areas of dry. There may be a shower this evening for South Canterbury then clearing overnight.

A few spots of rain for Otago later this afternoon / evening, mainly North Otago then clearing overnight.
