> From the WeatherWatch archives

An anticyclone slowly weakens over New Zealand today while some frontal activity starts to affect the lower South Island from afternoon.

For the North Island conditions are mainly dry today, just a few small mentions. This morning there may be a shower or two for northern Hawkes Bay and Gisborne however these will have mostly cleared by afternoon. Late afternoon or evening there is the risk of an isolated shower in the east from Northland down through to the Bay Of Plenty, most will stay dry but a chance is there.

For the South Island conditions are mainly dry also however some rain moves into Fiordland from this afternoon bringing a few heavy falls. A few spots of rain affect Southland from afternoon, these may spread into Otago this evening. It’s not till overnight then there is a greater chance of some scattered rain for Otago.
