RainWatch – Rest of Easter & week ahead

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The North Island is seeing most of the showery activity with a small rainband approaching central parts of the North island as it gradually moves in from the north.

A few showers are also in the picture for other parts of the upper and eastern North Island.

The forecast for Auckland today is for some showers here in there with humid northerly quarter breezes.

The South Island is basically shower free with a few just off the coast of Westland and should develop further and cross the region this afternoon.

Tomorrow sees clusters of showers or rain thickening up over northern and western areas at first and then spread across to eastern areas later in the day.

Easter Monday sees more of the focus along the West Coast of the South Island with some decent falls of rain building but easing later in the day.
Most other parts of the country appear mostly dry which is good news for holidaymakers heading home but not for those areas needing and wanting more rain.

The short week ahead again sees western and northern areas benefiting from bands of showers from time to time with the chance of brief periods of rain in the mix however long, dry spells are also expected.
Our confidence levels are about 40% but it’s lower with only a smattering of showers possibly making it to eastern coasts.
