RainWatch – Monday 15th January 2018

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A large high is centred out to the east of New Zealand today pushing a northeasterly airflow over both the North and South Islands.

For the North Island conditions are fairly dry this morning, just the risk of a shower about some northeastern areas from Northland through to East Cape throughout today. This afternoon especially later in the afternoon showers develop about southwestern parts of the North Island, namely Manawatu and along the ranges behind Wairarapa / Hawkes Bay. These showers bring the risk of heavy downpours and thunderstorms then clearing this evening.

The South Island has a dry day, just a light drizzle patch or two possible in western areas from later this afternoon / evening.
