An anticyclone centred in the Tasman Sea spreads a ridge over New Zealand today. A weakening front pushes northwards up the West Coast of the South Island during the day.

For the North Island it’s a mainly dry looking picture today, just the chance of a clearing shower this morning in the east.

Showers about South Westland slowly move northwards reaching North Westland this evening. Eastern parts of the island are mainly dry, there may be a light morning shower about Southland or Otago then clearing.

This afternoon about inland Southland and Central Otago isolated shower develop, some may become heavy then clearing later this evening.
