RainWatch

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There is not much rain falling on New Zealand today.  The upper tips of both islands have seen some light rain early this morning.  That has since come to an end.

For the rest of today, there could be a few showers about Nelson.

For tonight and tomorrow, we will turn our attention to a front that is expected to bring some rain chances to parts of the country.  By late tonight, some light showers could develop about Southland and Eastern Otago.

During the overnight and morning hours on Tuesday, the chances for rain will shift north along the eastern side of the South Island.  Rain chances will increase as the morning wears on.  Rainfall amounts, however, are still expected to be quite light.

By tomorrow night, the rain chances will move onto the lower North Island.  The southern and eastern areas will have the best chance of seeing precipitation.  Rainfall totals are still expected to be light.
