Rain, wind and snow for some on Thursday – The Big Picture

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A frontal system is moving onto the lower South Island in the morning, before pushing northwards during the day, while a low and front combination hits the west of the North Island in the afternoon.

This is going to shake our weather up somewhat, as both systems bring some fairly unpleasant conditions with them – wind and rain in the north, and rain and snow in the south.

We’ve already seen some low temperatures in this first complete week of spring, and while snow is likely to fall in flurries for parts of Southland, Otago and Canterbury, some regions will actually feel warmer than usual before the front moves in!

For more details on the rest of the week, check out Philip Duncan’s latest weather video, here.
