The government forecaster has issued several warnings for the South Island including spillover potential for the Canterbury Plains.
Here are the warnings in full as of 8:45pm Saturday…
Westland
Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Westland south of the Otira/Arthurs Pass area Rain is expected to spread north on Sunday morning and become heavy at times until early Monday afternoon. In the 30 hours starting about 3am Sunday south of Fox Glacier and starting about 9am Sunday further north, a total of 100 to 150mm is forecast near the ranges. The bulk of the rain is expected to come in two bursts of 6 to 9 hours with the first during Sunday and the second on Monday, when rainfall rates are likely to peak at 15 to 25mm per hour.
