Rain warnings head to North Island, more expected

As exclusively predicted by WeatherWatch.co.nz a week ago heavy rain warnings are being issued for the North Island as a heavy rain band moves over the region.  The crown forecaster indicates more to be issued for the Top Half of the North Island later today or tomorrow.

Here are the rain warnings, issued by Metservice, as of 11am:

Wairarapa

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Mt Taranaki and the Tararua Range Rain is forecast to become heavy Sunday evening. In the 18 to 21 hours from 9pm Sunday till 3pm Monday about the Tararua Range, but till 6pm Monday about Mt Taranaki, expect 100-120mm. Peak intensities up to 20-25mm/hr overnight and Monday morning.

Taranaki

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Mt Taranaki and the Tararua Range Rain is forecast to become heavy Sunday evening. In the 18 to 21 hours from 9pm Sunday till 3pm Monday about the Tararua Range, but till 6pm Monday about Mt Taranaki, expect 100-120mm. Peak intensities up to 20-25mm/hr overnight and Monday morning.

Manawatu

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Mt Taranaki and the Tararua Range Rain is forecast to become heavy Sunday evening. In the 18 to 21 hours from 9pm Sunday till 3pm Monday about the Tararua Range, but till 6pm Monday about Mt Taranaki, expect 100-120mm. Peak intensities up to 20-25mm/hr overnight and Monday morning.

Horowhenua

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: Mt Taranaki and the Tararua Range Rain is forecast to become heavy Sunday evening. Marlborough

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: The ranges of northwest Nelson, the Richmond Range and the Marlborough Sounds Further heavy rain is expected during Sunday, before easing overnight Sunday. In the 18 hours from 9am Sunday till 3am Monday, expect another 80 to 120mm in addition to what has already fallen. The heaviest falls are likely to be about the ranges, where intesities could reach 20-30mm per hour.

Nelson

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: The ranges of northwest Nelson, the Richmond Range and the Marlborough Sounds Further heavy rain is expected during Sunday, before easing overnight Sunday. In the 18 hours from 9am Sunday till 3am Monday, expect another 80 to 120mm in addition to what has already fallen. The heaviest falls are likely to be about the ranges, where intesities could reach 20-30mm per hour.
