Rain, showers in both islands – #WeatherRisks and your Main Centre outlook on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Wednesday is looking pretty clear for the main part, with just some periods of showers and sustained rain in parts of the North and South Islands.

Nelson and perhaps Tasman more specifically may see some potentially heavy rain in the morning, before it then eases away.

Inland parts of the North Islandsouth of Auckland and through to the Central North Island, and also across to the Bay Of Plenty – will see some showers and spells of rain too.
There may be heavy isolated downpours in the late afternoon or evening due to some instability.

Southeasterly winds through Cook Strait will likely be strong with a low risk of gales, this may affect the outer Marlborough Sounds and Farewell Spit in the South Island.

Main Centres

Auckland

Another warm and mostly fine day, with some cloud cover here and there, as well as the chance of a shower or two towards evening – and a high in the mid 20s.

Wellington

Cloudy and cool for the most part, with southerly breezes gusting strongly at times, showers through the day too – and a high in the mid teens.

Chirstchurch

Cloudy and cool in Christchurch too, with patchy rain and drizzle through the day, and a high in the pre teens – chilly!
