Rain is setting in across eastern parts of the North Island this afternoon, especially around Gisborne. Meanwhile further north rain is continuing to move in to eastern parts of Northland and northern Auckland.
The low is slowly churning off the north east coast and is bringing strong winds to some areas of the North Island.
Gusts up to 70km/h from the south east are affecting a number of regions but it’s a different story in the South Island under clear skies and a ridge of high pressure.
It’s currently just 4 degrees in Wanaka and in the north 15 in Whangarei.
