Rain may impact on sport today

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Saturday morning sport could be the casualty today as rain is expected to affect much of the country this morning and spilling over into the afternoon as well.

The 6th of May isn’t set to top any sunshine records but northerlies are set to continue to hold on so temperatures are expected to be above normal for many regions.
Parts of the Mainland may see fairly ordinary temperatures as easterly winds in the south deliver some rain and drizzle patches later in the east and heavier falls are likely about Nelson and the West Coast.

A risk of thunder and hail in northern areas in amongst some heavy rain or shower  bands are anticipated in isolated pockets with strong wind gusts also a possibility.

Tomorrow, a gradual improvement is expected and perhaps the rain may not be as persistent in a few areas but sunshine will only be limited with cloud prevailing for many.
