11am Update
Rainwise there’s nothing too significant falling across New Zealand today and the satellite map shows nothing large out in the Tasman but that is expected to change over the next 24 hours. We’re expecting a low to gain more strength and drive some good rain falls across central and western New Zealand tomorrow.
As of 11am light rain was falling in some parts of the West Coast…all main centres were dry with just the possibility of some drizzle around central New Zealand.
Earlier Update
Yet more rain is on the way as a couple more fronts move up the country from the Tasman Sea. A small pool of low pressure is forming off the North Island’s west coast and will drive in some rain tomorrow in places like Auckland, while today it’s mainly the South Island’s turn.
Some rain or showers should brush up Otago and Canterbury with heavier rain on the western side of the Southern Alps.
Temperatures in the east are expected to soar with highs in the late 20s and humidity on the rise too. Coastal showers or drizzle are possible around places like Gisborne.
The weekend should see showers clearing in the west during Saturday and any remaining showers in the east should go by Sunday.
Conditions are looking increasingly better for Christmas In The Park in Auckland on Saturday night.
Early next week a large low is expected to move on to the country from the Tasman Sea dumping heavy rain across the nation’s west coast and possibly spilling over again to dry regions in the east.
