Northlanders are thankful for the rain despite it coming to visit on Christmas Day.
After a couple of dry months the region is running low on water and the bad weather has come as a welcome Christmas present.
Taupo Bay Holiday Park owner Joe Rodgers said it came at the perfect time.
“It’s been pretty dry up here lately and we really needed the rain.
“A lot of people’s tanks were just about dry, so it was a gift actually.”
Mr Rodgers said the weather seemed to be clearing and the campground is prepared for the crowds to flock in today.
