Quake update: Wind arriving later for Chch

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There are pros and cons for Christchurch today and tonight in terms of weather.
On the upside it’s likely to be  a warm day with the mercury expected to top 25 degrees however northwest conditions are now expected by this evening and quite gusty particularly about Banks Peninsula.
The Government forecaster believes some hillside suburbs could expect some big gusts exceeding 100kph.

Along with the wind a few spots of rain are possible under the canopy of thick high cloud.
Combining these two elements will make it more challenging for teams and residents alike as dust clouds could create some respiratory problems and it appears there may not be significant rain to dampen the dustiness.

Conditions are again likely to be windy before a southerly change moves through later tomorrow.
