Bad news for people hoping to fly this weekend.
The Civil Aviation Authority says the volcanic ash cloud hovering over New Zealand doesn’t appear to be going anywhere this weekend.
Spokesman Peter Lechner says it’s up to the airlines whether they fly or not.
“The volcanic ash cloud continues to cover the whole of the country and stream off to the east of New Zealand and back south of Australia,” he told Newstalk ZB. “We don’t see much of an improvement for much of the weekend.”
Qantas and Jetstar have announced they have cancelled Saturday’s flights.
