There’s definitely another cold night on the way for most regions with frosts expected in a number places.  So, which centres will be the coldest in each island?  Check out our list of North Island and South Island predicted cold spots for overnight tonight…

North Island – predictions

Looks like the coldest weather will be confined to more sheltered areas in the west.  A cold southerly will continue to blow in Wellington, Napier, Hastings and Gisborne, stopping frosts from forming there.  Inland areas furthest away from the Pacific Ocean will be coldest areas, such as…

  • Tokoroa
  • Taupo
  • Rotorua
  • Palmerston North
  • Wanganui
  • Hawera
  • Levin
  • Paraparaumu

To a lesser extent:

  • Auckland
  • Te Puke
  • Kawerau

  • New Plymouth

In the South Island – predictions

Cloudy conditions and west to south west winds will stop frosts in coastal Southland and coastal Otago.
