Poll Results: Some say this year isn’t as cold, others say colder

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Compared to a year ago are you using less or more heat at home to stay warm? That was the question we asked in our most recent weekly poll which closed today.

The results aren’t clear cut but it does seem to indicate a slight weighting towards this year being a little warmer than last year.

32% say they are “definitely’ using less heat than this time a year ago.

However 21% say they are “definitely’ using more.

42% see no change while 5% can’t remember/aren’t sure.

With all the rain over the North Island it’s not surprising the lack of frosts this Autumn have keep some homes warmer. Perhaps not so much the case this weekend after a couple of cold starts!

WeatherWatch.co.nz says two ex-tropical cyclones and other sub-tropical airflows helped boost temperatures above normal in the North Island while the South Island has perhaps had more cool events compared to a year ago.

There is no major southerly blast in the next 10 days – so looks like our warmer than average pattern will continue in many areas.

Next poll out on Sunday!
