POLL RESULTS: Opinion split on NZ’s autumn

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Autumn has been a season of ups and downs for different parts of New Zealand – with heavy rains, snowstorms, tornadoes and huge swells making it the most action-packed part of the year by far!

We wanted to know what our readers made of the season as we prepare for winter – and it was a rare instance of a split vote!

46% of voters rated autumn as “perfect” – possibly a large proportion of farmers among them, as some drought regions received some very welcome rainfall or showers through the month.

Just 9% said that it was “too dry”, while 20 and 24% said the season was “too cold” and “too wet” respectively.

One commenter said that given a dry March and May, they thought autumn “would be wetter since they were dry last year – but they have been just average and april came to the party again….the average March made things very slow to recover from the drought.”

Another commenter looked at photos between this autumn and last, and said they compared very similarly – “much the same as last year”!

Keep an eye out for our next poll, coming tomorrow morning!
