Poll Results: NZers love and hate the same wind directions

> From the WeatherWatch archives

For two weeks we’ve been asking what wind direction you love and which one you dislike most. The results show we can’t win by suggesting there are ‘good & bad’ wind directions as it seems similar amounts of people like and dislike the same wind directions.

Here are the strongest contenders though:

3 most LIKED wind directions in New Zealand
NE – 23%
NW – 17%
SW – 16%

3 most DISLIKED wind directions in New Zealand
NE – 20%
SW – 19%
S – 18%

So when it comes to a wind direction we all collectively like and dislike it’s not clear cut at all.

New Zealand’s mountains and ranges mean a SW wind can be cloudy and cool for one group of people, sunny and clear skies for another group. A NE flow can feel like summer for some, but always cool for others.

With some much deeper analysis it may be possible to see clearer trends, but on the surface it seems like no clear winners or losers in the popularity contest.

An interesting two weeks of polling that’s for sure and you can see the full results here on our historic polls page, or see below:
