The results of our latest poll show two things: 1) Most New Zealanders want sun over rain, and 2) There’s still a significant number that need more rain.
As WeatherWatch.co.nz has been saying since Labour Weekend there are three areas of drier than usual conditions unfolding which are worth monitoring as we head into summer. 1) Between Auckland and Whangarei. 2) Around Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay. 3) From Northern Southland to Central Otago to South Canterbury.
The 26% of you who voted for “more rain” are more than likely in those three ‘areas of concern’ listed above. If you’re not – please do let us know by posting a comment below so we can monitor your area closer too.
The 68% of you that voted for more sun will be happy – apart from a few light coastal showers, next week is mostly dominated by dry, calmer, weather thanks to a very large anticyclone, especially between Tuesday and Friday.
