Poll Results: Most have had a frost, but there haven’t been many frosts

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Some are suggesting Winter 2017 seems colder than 2016 and WeatherWatch.co.nz’s latest poll suggests most have had a frost this year.

74% of New Zealanders say they have had a frost so far in 2017.

But only a tiny 10% have had more than 10 frosts.

Autumn was especially wet in many regions, with sub-tropical airflows and ex-cyclones helping keep many frosts away. Winter has seen more southerlies and some heavy frosts but perhaps compared to a couple of decades ago conditions don’t seem so frosty this year.
