It’s already the third day of summer on the Meteorological calendar and the poll results today are quite stunning – 40% of you have used heating in the past seven days.

While we expected a few people to be still using some form of heating, mostly due to the windy and more southerly nature of the winds recently, we’re surprised it’s as high as 40%.

Many western areas, including Auckland City, have had a lot of cloudy and sometimes cool winds recently. While the eastern North Island surged into the low to mid 30s last week the western North Island struggled to climb out of the teens and into the 20s.

But this weekend is quite different, with the sun out and light winds – remember those burn times now! Hopefully much warmer weather ahead.
