POLL RESULTS: Kiwis say no to flu shot

> From the WeatherWatch archives

When we at WeatherWatch.co.nz decide on a poll question for the week ahead, we like to go for something that will inform the wider public about other opinions, and also to get a gauge on the general feeling of our readers about a certain topic or weather related issue.

It’s fair to say that this week’s poll had a bit of both – we learned something about our readers, as well as hopefully informing kiwis about an important issue that bears discussion – seasonal vaccinations!

More than half, just under 60% of those who voted said that they were not vaccinated this year, and had no plans to be, compared to just a third who’ve had their shot, and 8% who haven’t yet but were planning to.

Weather is our passion, and we as a company are politically neutral – so we’ll stay away from the politics of vaccination – but we were interested to see that a couple of commenters mentioned political issues – so we’re happy to report on them!

One anonymous commenter said that they weren’t planning on getting a shot “because they will not explain what is in it“, while another posted a link to an infowars article about reporting statistics on the vaccine.

Once again – we’re staying away from the politics, but it’s fascinating to see debate and open dialogue about something that affects us all!
