What makes a cold night a cold night? According to most New Zealanders who voted in our recent poll it’s single digits and below.
An overwhelming 62% of those who responded said a cold night is when the temperature drops to 9 degrees, or below.
A further 28% said a cold night is when it’s even colder, around freezing or below -5.
This leaves just 11% who consider a cold night being under 15 or 20 degrees.
Of course in a nation that spreads over 1500kms north to south plus some regions have dry cold, others damp cold, it’s all quite subjective. Still – it’s helpful for us as forecasters to see these results.
Next poll out on Sunday!
