Our latest poll results are in, and it seems as though Autumn is a little tardy this year, despite the fact we’re already a month into the Season!
We wanted to get a bead on our readers’ opinions of the Autumn so far, with many people writing in to complain of the lingering Summer dry (while others reveled in it).
Our poll results were conclusive – with a combined 84.4% of respondents saying Autumn either hadn’t arrived at all, or was only barely poking its head above the surface.
Derek from Whangerei wrote:
“Better than the summer by far, really beautiful here in Whangarei, cooler nights make sleeping easier and the nice fresh early morning is great to do a bit of work. This can go on for many more weeks for me.”
While Lee from the lower North Island said that while Aucklanders may be enjoying the lingering Summer, kiwis further south weren’t:
“Been a few cold nights with the fronts. Just wish we could get rid of these tiresome anticyclones, as stable air after a cold southerly just prolongs the cold. Rain is badly needed.“
Keep an eye out for our next poll, coming Sunday morning at 10!

It’s been autumn here in Christchurch for at least 6 weeks! Following on from one of the worst summers on record.
