Poll Results: 65% ‘extremely’ or ‘quite’ concerned about pollution of NZ’s waterways

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Our week-long poll this past week has picked up on a theme in this year’s general election. We wanted to know your level of concern about the pollution that does exist in some of New Zealand’s rivers, beaches and lakes.

A total of 48% of you say your level of concern is extreme.

A further 17% said “quite concerned”.

Even at the lower end of the scale another 21% still voted that they did have “some concern” about the current conditions.

14% of you have no concern at all about serious pollution of New Zealand’s waterways.

When you stack up the numbers a grand total of 86% had some level of concern about pollution – you can see why this topic will likely be part of the election this year and probably a theme in politics over the next few years.

The poll isn’t scientific but does capture a slice of honest Kiwi’s and their general views. Around 300 people voted in our online poll this week.
