We always believe there’s room for improvement when it comes to weather forecasting – which is why we often ask you how you think we’re doing. We also want to know when we hit the nail on the head.
This time around we want to gauge how well you think we did with our Labour Weekend forecast for the country.

Your forecast was spot on for where WE were in the Wairarapa, but a lot of the Wellington folk were grumbling that the much touted ’10 days of fine weather’ had not eventuated. From what I can gather, it was cloudy and not all that warm for most of the weekend. Certainly, when we arrived home on Monday evening, we were surpised at how chilly and dull it was on this side of the Rimutakas!

You got the cloudy bit right for the Kapiti Coast, but we also got a brief spell of heavy drizzle on sunday a.m. (blame the Tararua Ranges?) Did fine up after that as you promised and I got my lawn mowed Monday! Beautiful and warm here today.

Had a report of hail the size of peas and much cloud from Palmerston North over the long weekend.
