For many farmers it’s business as usual (well, as much as possible) as they continue providing essential services to the public of New Zealand during the nationwide lockdown.
These great photos were sent to us by Kim Lewis showing farmer Joe Catherwood loading some of his sheep onto a Frews stock truck, on Mt Vernon in the Port Hills near Christchurch in fairly miserable working conditions.
Recent easterlies have made for cooler than average and drizzly/wet weather there with low cloud/fog at times too, especially on the Port Hills (as one of the photos shows below).
However, the next 10 days ahead look sunnier and drier for those farming in the east of the country – and a little warmer too, especially next week.
From everyone at WeatherWatch.co.nz and RuralWeather.co.nz – a big Thank You to all the hard working farmers and growers across New Zealand who are helping feed Kiwis and keeping supermarkets stocked during these unprecedented times.
