Following the publication of Philip Duncan’s photos showing a passenger jet cutting a cloud right in half WeatherWatch.co.nz reader Andrew Blacker sent us more photos of other clouds cut up by large jets.
“A couple of jet cut trails to add to your collection, from Dec 21st – Santa’s practice trips? – not that my 9 y/o twins believed me for a moment!”
Taken from Parau, West Auckland – 12 km from Auckland International Airport.
And WeatherWatch.co.nz regular photographer Zelda Wynn sent in this photo below

December 21st was extremely windy with much cirrus cloud, and huge updrafts with shapes.
Zelda wishes to submit her cloud image is not caused by a plane, taken high in the Western sky it was well away from aircraft climbing.
An expert on clouds may like to offer their opinion.
