It gets a bit of a bad reputation for its weather, the West Coast, but in actual fact Greymouth, Westland and other parts of the long West Coast region enjoy some brilliant weather that puts other regions to shame – especially during La Nina conditions.
La Nina creates an influx in easterly winds – and for Coasters that’s basically a reverse of the Canterbury nor’wester – cloudless skies and warm weather.
These two photos, uploaded by mobile phone, were taken today by our reporter at The Radio Network in Greymouth, Gareth Thomas.
We’re keen to see other photos from the West Coast – simply click here to upload your pics.

A great place with great people my eldest Son spent his honeymoon down there. Some fantastic scenery and they had magnificent weather.
