Runner up was this fantastic photo sent in by Mandeno Moments of a heavy downpour in Auckland on Thursday.  It’s always hard capturing a downpour in a still photo but we think this does the job nicely.Raining cats and dogs in Manurewa, Auckland

The dust storm really took the headlines this week and this shot gave New Zealand readers a unique view of the dust storm from above it – by Brad Heap.Dust Storm behind Rain Storm over Tasman Sea

Staying with the dust storm and this eerie photo was taken by CH DAVIS-NZ from Coopers Beach in the Far North.

And finally and unusual photo sent in by Debbie Zillwood showing swarms of mosquitoes around the tops of the gum tree.  The warmth and increased humidity lately will see more and more mosquitoes coming to life.
