It’s not everyday you’re sitting enjoying lunch at the top of a high building (in this case Sky Tower) and have someone casually stroll past you in occasional gales to measure the wind speed.
Lunch for me is normally a very boring on-my-own affair in the office, but today I had the pleasure of catching up with a colleague of mine at The Sugar Club restaurant, Level 53 up Sky Tower.
During the passing squally showers we witnessed this guy measuring the wind speed with a handheld wind speed machine (technical term: anemometer). Winds were being measured for those who were doing the SkyJump off the tower on the other side from where we were sitting.
He gave us a thumbs up as he walked past too. I know he was harnessed to the building…but I doubt I could’ve casually taken a stroll and given a thumbs up on the outside edge of Sky Tower in gusty winds! Talk about better work stories 🙂
