Earlier today we published a story about how the weather has been so far this month and we certainly got a lot of varied and often unhappy responses.
Sue Culver, one of our Facebook readers had this to say…” We had the fire going in Wellington last night! And that was probably the 5th time this year!! And its summer, hmm. Was looking at some of the ‘real’ summer clothes in my girls draws yesterday, that they haven’t had a chance to wear yet, and was wondering if they will get to this year”.
It didn’t stop there as a number of Cantabrians were also not feeling the positive vibe of summer….
“Christchurch has been dull, cool and cloudy. Where has Summer gone? The leaves are turning already so an early Autumn and Winter?” said Yasmeen.
WeatherWatch.co.nz believes summer isn’t quite over for the red and black territory however this week isn’t looking like it’s going to set any high temperature records.
RW posted a comment on the WeatherWatch.co.nz site confirming the Wellington and Christchurch summer concerns.”So far for Ch’ch and Wellington – among other places – its has been cool and very cloudy (today fine here in W’gton however). The summer sunshine total in W’gton is still a possible candidate for a record low (105 years of data).
Northlanders are wanting more rain, Aucklanders seem to want more sunshine and some mentioned that Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa needed a sunnier and warmer summer and for it to be consistent.
Who is happy? Central Otago have loved their summer in the main but are pleased the recent heat has eased just a little.
Thanks for your comments and let’s hope the remainder of the month offers more of what we’re all wanting however should we mention the long range forecast at the moment?….. Perhaps we’ll leave it for a day or 2!.
